Class Descriptions
JAZZ
Varying in styles, Jazz is a traditional technique which emphasis skill development (jumps, kicks, turns, extensions), flexibility, execution of steps/transitions and individual style.
BALLET
At the core of many dance forms, Ballet works to develop technique, body alignment, poise, grace and strength. Exercises are performed at the barre, in the centre and across the floor that emphasize linking steps together.
TAP
With its inherent musicality and focus on rhythm, Tap is a unique dance form based on footwork and accent using tap shoes.
LYRICAL AND CONTEMPORARY
Lyrical combines the two traditional techniques of ballet and jazz to convey emotion and interpretation of the lyrics and mood of a song. Contemporary is a combination of various dance forms which stresses the connection between body and mind, and expresses emotion in a very modern atmosphere.
HIP HOP
Hip Hop is an urban dance form that focuses on style, varying techniques (breaking, popping, locking, etc.), musicality and performance.
ACRO
Combining gymnastics and dance, Acro develops strength and flexibility required for limbering skills, balances and tumbling.
MUSICAL THEATRE
The combination of dancing and acting, dancers portray a character and tell a story in Musical Theatre through lip-syncing, dancing, gestures and stylistic choreography.
POINTE
The execution of advanced ballet technique performed on Pointe shoes (toe shoes). By invitation only.
